When looking on the internet for bow hunting techniques the first tip is setting up the deer stand. This is critical in keeping on hidden from the animals in both sight and scent. According to many experienced big game hunters a good way to camouflage one’s stand is to cut limbs of nearby trees and attach them directly to the stand. This does two things. One, it gives a person and their stand natural camouflage, and two, it helps to cover one’s scent with the natural surroundings instead of relying on only manmade deer scents that are found in sporting goods stores around the world.

A good rule of thumb for getting rid of one’s scent is to bathe in a non-scent soap before going into the woods. One should also remember to do the best that they can to remove any human scent from their hunting gear. This means taking advantage of the buck scents that are found in sporting goods stores. As for the noise, when one is practicing at home, they should do all they can to remove any sound that their equipment makes. Experienced hunters can help when it comes to keeping the noise down to a minimum.

The 2.5 minute video is the conclusion of a 2 week chase for a specific 9pt on 4000 acres in the south Texas brush.

I spotted him on 10-27, but couldn’t get a shot. I sat in my blind overlooking an oat patch more days than I can count trying to get another shot at him. Finally on 11-11, with my buddy Chris in the blind, he returned. The neighbors were dove hunting about a quarter mile away, and I think they pushed him out of his bed and right into our lap.

He was standing quartering away at 21yds and I let the arrow fly. The shot was a bit low and back, but because of the angle, it did the job.
